SIZING AND MEASURING UP

How to prepare to take your measurements:

1. Wear the right clothing/underwear: Avoid wearing anything bulky like knitwear or thick jeans, the tape measure should come as close to your body as possible. This will ensure that your measurements are as accurate as they can be.

2. Put on the shoes that you intend to wear with your dress, stand up straight and stand with your feet together and your arms relaxed at your sides, maintaining a straight posture.

3. You'll need a helping hand to take your measurements for you, even better if the whole bridal party is together to help one another, the more eyes, the more accurate.

4. Stand in front of a mirror so you can observe being measured

5. Make sure to use a soft, flexible measuring tape that can wrap around your body easily.

Bust measurement

Wrap the tape measure around your back, under your arms and over the fullest area of your bust

Waist measurement

Wrap the tape measure around your back, find where you come in naturally narrowest at your waistline, this is usually just above the belly button

Hip measurement

Wrap the tape measure around your lower back, find where your hips are and wrap the tape measure around this area

Bum measurement

Wrap the tape measure around your bottom, find your largest area of your bum and wrap the tape measure around this area

Shoulder to floor measurement

You MUST be stood in your shoes/heels while taking this measurement. You will need help from someone to tell you the length you need down at your toes while you remain looking ahead.

First place the tape measure on the base of your shoulder (where you would find a t-shirt seam for a visual comparison to know where the base of your shoulder is).

Drape the tape measure down the side of your body so it hangs to the floor, do not take the tape measure over the bust it MUST hang straight down to the floor.

Stand straight, in your shoes/heels, look forward and DO NOT look down at the person helping you, you will loose at least 2 inches if you are not stood straight. They will tell you the measurement that touches the floor at the front of your shoes. This is your shoulder to floor length.
